Yellowjacket Women’s Tennis Blanked by Montana State, 9-0

Visiting Montana State posted a 9-0 victory over Montana State Billings on March 19 in a non-conference tennis match at the MSUB Tennis Bubble. With the loss, the Yellowjackets fell to 3-8 on the year, while MSU improved to 5-7 on the year.

In doubles play, MSU’s Ali Griffin and Laura Villegas posted an 8-2 victory over Kajsa Karlsson and Lena Macomson at No. 1. Jennifer Coll and Andrea De La Torre also posted an 8-2 victory at No. 2 over Rikki Peach and Ana Juarez. At No. 3, Charlotta Hjalmarrson teamed with Lucy Fairbotham downed Beth Ann Baker and Megin Madruga 8-1 for a 3-0 lead.

The Bobcats won all six singles matches in straight sets. The Jackets won four games in a set just two times as Karlsson lost 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 to Griffin and Shelby Toennis fell to Fairbotham 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6.

The Yellowjackets will be back in action March 26 versus Southern Oregon University in Lewiston, Idaho.
