Dear Obama: A Letter to the President

April 19th, 2010 by Ashley Frodsham For The Retort

Dear Obama,

I really, really wanted you to be MY president. The type of guy who I could say, yeah, that dude is my president. I’m happy HE is in political office. I wanted to be able to scream your name from the roof tops.

Then you had to ruin it all by putting more troops in Afghanistan and you haven’t ended the war. I thought you were “anti-war,” that is what you told US. That is why all of us who marched on Washington against the war voted for YOU. To BRING OUR TROOPS HOME! Not just move them around a little.

Then you made me all happy by having your people say you wouldn’t allow the federal government to come in and arrest people for growing marijuana in states where it is legal. Ah, then what the heck happened in California?

Then, you really had to screw things up with this whole abortion thing. You said in your campaign you were pro-choice. You said you would defend my right to have an abortion. Now here you are saying how we need to compromise and find common ground with pro-lifers. Seriously, what the heck!!!!!!! We have a democratic president, a filibuster proof majority in Congress and we should COMPROMISE on abortion rights to make pro-lifers FEEL BETTER? Screw that.

THEN in your speech at Notre Dame you said that anti-abortion doctors should be given the right to refuse to perform the procedure of abortion. WHAT? Seriously, you think that if I am in an emergency room and abortion is the only thing that can save my life, someone should have the RIGHT to refuse to perform it based on their “faith”???? Maybe that is something they should have thought of when they made the decision to work in the health care field where people DIE and sometimes tough decisions need to be made. If they didn’t want to perform an abortion they could have chosen another profession! Like being a priest.

Also, as part of this abortion debate you haven’t even bothered to mention things like parental consent laws, mandatory waiting periods, or state mandated education on fetal development. Maybe because those are real issues of the debate. Not how to make pro-life housewives and Sarah Palin happy by saying how much you love adoption.

Dude, be OUR president. Represent the people who voted for you! Stop trying to include the people who didn’t because we won! They lost! They didn’t try to include any latte-drinking liberals in their conservative fun-fest when Bush got into office. They just did what they wanted to, while pointing and laughing at us.

You’ll need to do more then have your wife and kids plant an organic garden to make me happy.
