So ok it would be totally and completely unfair for me to write the critique of my own senior show, so here is what I’m going to do. Hopefully everyone was able to go down to the student gallery and see it and if not in my humble opinion you missed out, but I digress; instead of writing up a critique of my own work (I’m sorry but that smacks of impropriety) I’m going to instead simply have in my article, the disclaimer from my show, my artist statement and images of my pieces. Enjoy.

“Some of the items and songs used in this exhibition may be seen as offensive by some; due to their graphic, controversial and/or derogatory nature. If one is offended by a different expression of faith and religious views, this probably is not the show for such a person. All pieces within were treated with proper respect and profound reverence. Also, all songs were chosen for the message they contain; this may mean one has to pause and listen to the lyrics in their entirety to understand the message within. With that said please maintain an open mind while viewing this exhibition.”

“It is the goal of an artist to encourage people to THINK in new ways, and therefore to SEE in new ways. These works pertain to my personal thoughts on religion and faith. I truly believe that it does not matter what you have faith in, all that matters in that you HAVE faith. In my opinion all the different names and images of the deities throughout history and humankind are simply the facets that make up the greater whole. Simply put the eyes cannot see if they are closed and the mind cannot gain knowledge and truth if one cannot see. So please keep an open mind. For there is no right or wrong way to express ones faith. It is as individualistic as there are fish in the sea, animals on the land and birds in the sky.”
