The 2010 Celebration of Faculty Excellence on March 11, opened with a reception and dinner before the awards were presented. Provost and Academic Vice Chancellor, Dr. D’Ann Campbell, welcomed the audience and introduced Michael Barton, ASMSUB Student Resolution Officer, who presented the first awards.

The ASMSUB Outstanding Faculty Awards were presented by Barton to Thomas Dell, University Lecturer, Rehabilitation and Human Services; Eric Gilbertson, Academic Support and Learning Specialist, Mathematics; Dr. Mary McNally, Professor of Management; Dr. Rosemarie Dugi, Assistant Professor, Special Education; and Dr. Mark Jacobsen, Assistant Professor, Mathematics.

Dr. Mary McNally and Eakle Barfield, Director of Facility Services, were given the ASMSUB Environmental Sustainability Awards “for their undying support of our program of environmental sustainability,” according to Jason Rodriguez, ASMSUB Sustainability Coordinator.

The Faculty Special Achievement Award was presented to Dr. Carter Havner, University Lecturer, History.

Amy Stark, Adjunct Instructor, English and Philosophy, was given the Part-time Faculty Special Achievement Award.

The College of Technology Leadership Award was presented to Barb Pedula, Instructor, General and Related Education.

Dr. Joy Honea, Assistant Professor of Sociology, and Dr. Kurt Toenjes, Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology, were given the Winston and Helen Cox Fellowship Award.

The Faculty Excellence Achievement Awards were given to Dr. Terry Blackwell, Professor, Rehabilitation and Related Services; Dr. Susan Balter-Reitz, Associate Professor, Communication and Theatre; and Dr. Jeffrey Sanders, Professor, Native American Studies.

At the celebration, faculty members were also recognized for their years of service at MSUB. Dr. Craig Wilson was honored for 30 years of service. For 25 years of service, Dr. John Hoover, Dr. William Kamowski, Dr. Russell Lord, Dr. Judith McLaughlin, Janet Mullaney, and Randy Schmitz.

Edward Becker, Dr. Rhonda Dillman, Dr. Brian Dillon, Susan Floyd, Dr. Susan Gregory, Dr. Tony Hecimovic, Dr. David Hood, Dr. Dixie Metheny, and Dr. Daniel Yazak were recognized for 20 years of service.

For 15 years of service, Dr. Mark Hardt and Dr. Doxey Hatch were honored.

Randall Pugh, Dr. Rakesh Sah, Lynette Schwalbe, and Dr. Stuart Snyder were recognized for ten years of service.

Faculty members honored for five years of service were Trisha Biggs, Thomas Dell, Dr. Chris Sheppard, and Dr. Kurt Toenjes.

Dr. Will Wickun, Dr. David Davison, and John Pollock were recognized as retiring faculty members.
