Honors Update

October 21st, 2011 by Patricia Hampton Of The Retort Staff

The Honors Club sponsored Honors Games Night from 7-10 pm on Tuesday, October 11 in the Galleria of the Student Union Building.

The Honors Club provided playing cards, Apples to Apples, Cranium, Trivial Pursuit and many other games for the event with the help of Housing and Residential Life. Throughout the night, students rotated in and out of the Apples to Apples game on the Galleria couches. Anywhere from half a dozen to a dozen people could be seen playing at any one time, trying their hands at winning the coveted green cards, while their friends looked on and made suggestions for each new category.

Additionally, the inflatable screen and Wii were prepared for a night of Just Dance. Jeff Rosenberry, Assistant Director of Housing and Student Life, joined students for part of one of the first songs. For much of the night, a four year-old boy laughed and danced alongside the college students. Though only three controls were available, as the night went on more and more students assembled to participate in the fun, while friends arranged their chairs to watch and encourage them from the side. The two most popular songs of the night were “Wannabe,” by the SpiceGirls, and Britney Spears’ “Womanizer.”

MSU Billings student Dalton Emig-Wahrman commented, “Games Night was a lot of fun and the Galleria was filled with a bunch of great people that made the event enjoyable.” Students enjoyed popcorn provided by the SUB, as well as pumpkin bar and punch donated by Rosenberry for the event. Students enjoyed the event as they caught up with old friends and encouraged others to join in the dancing and the games.

The Honors Club is planning several more events throughout the semester, including movie nights, research presentations, “Dance the Night Away” – a dance which will include swing dance lesson opportunities, and a Beach Break at the close of the semester.
