The Rook OpportunitiesNovember 20th, 2009 by Zach Duval For The Retort For the 2009-2010 academic term, the editing board for The Rook, has ambitiously set as its mission the expansion of student involvement in the arts and literature, chiefly by hosting workshops (open to all students) in order to foster the development of a literary and artistic society, in cooperation with other student organizations. The Rook, along with providing a publishing outlet for student writers and artists, seeks to provide networking opportunities for students from a variety of disciplines to meet and discuss their work for the betterment of their craft as well as to foster relationships between students that will extend beyond university life. The Rook is committed to a philosophy emphasizing student activity for improving campus life with connections to greater society. Its annual publication routinely consists of contributions from a variety of students, each with unique artistic voices, and is free to all students. To receive a copy of last year’s issue, email therook@msubillings.edu or stop by the English Department office on the fourth floor of the Liberal Arts building. Notices of workshops are posted across campus and will soon be included on The Rook’s newly updated website at msubillings.edu/therook. Submissions of creative writing, photography or fine art should be emailed as attachments to therook@msubillings.edu .
